Solanum tuberosum, namely potato, is freezing sensitve. However, one of the potato wild species, Solanum acaule, have hardiness. More exactly, the species have both basic freezing tolerance and acclimaiton capacity. In previous research, the two types of freezing tolerance are mapped into different genetic loci. But there is none lasting research for further freezing tolerant gene mapping analysis. Therefore, what is the difference of the two types of freezing tolerance are elusive. In the present research, we used transcriptomic and metabolomic approaches to analyze the freezing tolerant S. acaule and freezing sensitive S. tuberosum in response to freezing stress with prior acclimation and freezing stress without prior accalimation, to try to clarify the relationship between the two kinds of freezing tolerance in potato.
